Rooster Recap: ‘House of Cards’–Season 2, Episode 6

Rooster RecapThings are happening. Things about relationships. Things about power. Things about giving up. Things about sex. Things about things. Needless to say, you need to keep your eyes and ears open for the next couple of episodes. Things are moving fast. Not as fast as you want them to, but hey we have speed limits in life to keep us safe.

If you haven’t seen the episode, I suggest waiting to read this post. Spoilers ahead.

The episode opens up with Frank and Tusk in the middle of an argument about Samarium and air conditioners. Needless to say, it’s a dry argument that really shows the true colors of their relationship. Both Frank and Tusk feel they’re right. BUT there can only be one! With Tusk losing respect and power with the President every day, it is now or never for Frank to put the demon to rest and drive a stake between the President and Tusk. Why doesn’t the President seem to like Tusk lately? Is it because all he obsesses about is bird watching and making money? Could be. After some running around and secret meetings and discussions, Frank lays it on the line to Tusk by telling him to shape up, or GTFO. And by GTFO I mean Frank will start a FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) investigation on Tusk, forcing him to reveal his finances. If there is one thing billionaires like Tusk hate, it is those…with flat soda and hybrid cars coming in at hates #2 and #3.

Meanwhile…Back at the Underwood residence, Frank and Meechum are playing a nice game of sissy toss (catch) on the patio. The reason I say sissy toss is because Frank sseriously… Tosses like a sissy. His form is horrible, he doesn’t extend his arm back far enough, and on top of that, his windup is unorthodox to say the least. Why is he playing catch you ask? Well he was asked to throw out the first pitch at Camden Yards! His last first pitch attempt ended up with the ball slipping out of his hands and falling on his head. “A comic relief pitcher,” snarks Meechum when being told the story. I laughed. I laughed and Meechum just moved up two spots on my favorite character list. So Frank goes out for the big redemption pitch and BOOM the lights go out! “Oh, what a coincidence?!” Said no one with a high school education. Yeah, it was Tusk. So it looks like this moment will have to be rescheduled another time.

If you thought Frank was home free this episode, you’re wrong. Guess who arranges a one-on-one interview with the guy? The old editor-in-chief of the Washington Herald…THE HAMMER. He wants answers. Well, answers to Lucas’ questions because he’s locked up in jail. But! He wants justice! He wants revenge! He really doesn’t want to be doing this but he’s got nothing better to do these days. Frank plays it cool and just denies, denies, denies. So, coming in with questions and still leaving with questions, Lucas’ last wish is crumbled. His last quote, “he’s going to get away with it, isn’t he?” With tears in his eyes, you almost feel for him. Almost.

So guess who Washington’s newest couple is? If you guessed Jackie and Remy, that would be correct! After helping Jackie secure some votes, Remy finds her attractive and ends up spending the night. They both decide to keep it professional by separating work from play…for now, at least. I guess it’s true what they say! All women love chocolate… And puppies.

And for something you already know and assume, yes… Stamper is still being creepy with that Russo call girl. Now, he is still my number one character in my heart, but if he keeps this up, and Meechum keeps it up with these brilliant wise cracks, I may have a new #1.
